Joint Commission reinstates rule requiring prospective review of all Medication orders in the ED Joint Commission reinstates rule requiring prospective review of all Medication orders in the ED  The Joint Commission has resended it's decision to modify the rule on medication reconcilitation in the ED.  The ruling reinstates the original intent of the rule which requires that all medications be prospectively reviewed by a pharmacist.  How will this effect care in your ED?  How do you as a manager plan to address this issue from a budgetary standpoint?   1   11 months ago
Procedural Sedation Procedural Sedation  The Texas Board of Nurses currently does not allow a nurse in the emergency department to administer propofol IV.  The National ENA has recently released a position statement in favor of extending this skill to nurses in the ED with demonstrated competency.  Texas ENA has not yet taken an official stand on this issue.  As a nurse praciticing in an emergency care setting, how do you feel about this issue?  2   7 months ago
